Judith Diane (Turner) Long

It is with heartfelt sadness we the family announce the passing of Judith Diane Long on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in North Sydney on July 30, 1947, Judy was the daughter of the late Cecil and Mildred (Galpin) Turner. Judy was primarily a homebody. She enjoyed cooking, but more than that she enjoyed going to the grocery store, which she did many times throughout the week. She absolutely loved going to bingo and buying scratch tickets at Brewer’s store. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody. She’ll be dearly missed.

Judy is survived by her husband, Lawrence; her daughter Heather Burneau; step-son Bill (Tania) Long; grandchildren Rachel and Jessica Burneau and step-grandchildren, Billy and Josh Long; great-grandchild, Alex Burneau; siblings Nina Pentacost, Arlene MacLean, Chris Turner (Bonnie Rose), Anne Marie Walsh, Rose Anne Turner, Joey Turner; many nieces and nephews, with special mention to Cathy Downs.

Along with her parents, Judy is predeceased by her daughter, Michelle Burneau; brother Jim Turner and brothers-in-law Jimmy Pentacost, Alex MacLean and Steve Walsh.

The family would especially like to thank the entire staff of the An Cala Palliative Care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their compassionate care.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home. As per Judy’s wishes, there will be no service at this time. Online condolences can be left for the family by writing on the tribute wall of the obituary page.
