Obituary

Kelsey M. Pyke

Georges River

With broken hearts and deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Kelsey Marie Pyke, age 26, on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, surrounded by love, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Born in North Sydney on February 27, 1994, she was the daughter of the late Julie Ann Pyke and raised by her grandfather Ernest Tremblett.  Kelsey graduated from Memorial High School in 2013 and Canadian National Institute of Health in 2019 as a Dental Hygienist.  She only worked for a few short weeks when she became ill.

Kelsey adored her Poppy and loved nothing more than to pack up the truck and go with him to one of their favourite fishing spots.  She loved the ocean and actually went for a swim on Sunday with her friends.  She loved her “girls” and her big brown eyes and infectious smile won the hearts of all who met her.

She is survived by her grandfather “AKA Poppy” Ernest Tremblett (Francis), grandmother Joan (Pyke) Bond (Ernie), a brother Samuel, her uncle James (Tanya) Tremblett, her aunt Monica (David) Grandy, great-grandmother Clara Pyke, aunts Brenda Foster (Tommy), Kim Forrest (Alex), Tracey Groves (Jody), uncle Leroy Pyke (Nancy), her special aunt Colleen (Peter) Harrietha, her cousins who were like siblings to her, Ashley, Kristen, Jaymee, Tyler, Brendan, Laura, David, Sandy, Natasha, Mason, Logan, Kody, Kenneth and Kyle.  Also, Tammy and Wendy she adored you both.  She was also survived by her many friends who all held a special spot in her heart.  A special mention to Jenna D, Logan, Jessica, Holly, Emily, Morgan, Jaime Lee and Jenna Lynn…watching you girls with Kelsey over the last several months warmed our hearts, we will be forever grateful for your love and devotion you have shown Kelsey.

Kelsey was predeceased by her mother Julie Ann Pyke in May of this year and her maternal grandfather Leroy Pyke.

Special thanks to Dr. Peter Poulos, Dr. Aboud, Dr. James Bentley and his oncology team, Dr. Fuller, Palliative Care and the Cape Breton Cancer Centre.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude for the outpouring of love and support shown to Kelsey and her family throughout her illness from so many people in the community, province and all across the country and beyond.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private family service will be held for Kelsey. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com.
