Kenneth Gordon Johnston

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Gordon Johnston, age 93, on October 14, 2025 at Northside General Hospital.

Gordon was born in North Sydney on April 1, 1932 to the late Charles and Annabel (MacKenzie) Johnston. He worked on a family farm in Alberta for a number of years as well as in the forestry industry in both British Columbia and Alberta before returning home to Cape Breton.

Gordon is survived by members of the O’Handley, MacKenzie and Johnston families. He was predeceased by his brothers John Johnston, Wilbert Johnston, David Johnston, sister-in-law Kay (MacLeod) Johnston and his close family friend, Danny O’Handley.

We would like to thank Dr. Andrew Wawer, the nursing staff of the Northside General Hospital, Northside Homemakers, EHS and Continuing Care for all your kindness. A special thank-you as well to all of Gordon’s friends at Central Court, especially Helen who was always so good to him.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Donations in Gordon’s memory can be made to the Northside Harbourview Hospital Foundation.
