Kimberly Jones Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kimberly Anne Jones, affectionately known as Kim, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Kim passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the age of 56. Born in Sydney Mines on July 22, 1968, she spent her most recent years living in Georges River, NS.

Kim was a vibrant soul who brought joy to everyone around her. She cherished spending quality time with family and friends, where laughter and love filled the air. Her passions included playing darts, having bon fires, and she loved a good game of cards.  Activities that reflected her playful spirit and love for nature.

Kim is survived by her only son Ryan (Kerry), her grandchildren Tyson, Ava, Mya, Alexa, and Landen. She is also remembered fondly by her sister, Kim Peters (Craig), and their children, Joshua and Kaylee; her brother, Tim Jessome (Donna), and their children, Christopher, Shirley, Kryssy, and Angie; step-father Ronnie Matthews. Her dearest friends Ginny, Heather, Belinda, Alana, Carolyn, Wendy, and Tiny. Also, many aunts, uncles, and cousins will also carry her memory in their hearts.

Kim's family would also like to say thank you to the staff of the Cape Breton Cancer center, who supported her throughout her diagnosis. The nurses and doctors on 4B of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, the team of doctors and nurses of 6B at the VG Hospital in Halifax who made Kim's final weeks and days as comfortable as possible.

Kim was predeceased by Ronald Billard, the absolute love of her life; her maternal grandparents William “Bill” and Melvina Jessome, who also raised Kim; paternal grandparents Wilfred and Martha Jones; her mother Paulette Matthews (Halifax) and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kim was a member of the Anglican faith. She was actively involved with the Salvation Army until her diagnosis, but still volunteered once a week to embody her belief in giving back to the community.

Kim also worked for many years at Tim Hortons and often spoke fondly about her "Tim's Girls." Her warmth, kindness, and infectious laughter and smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

As per Kim’s request, a service held to honor Kim's life will be held Wednesday, January 22nd, at 2:00 pm at St.  John the Baptist Anglican Church, 24 King St in North Sydney.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Kim's name to the Cape Breton Cancer Center.  Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J.
