Laurette "Lollie" (Romeo) Byrne Obituary
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Laurette “Lollie” Byrne, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on May 30, 2026 at the Miner’s Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines.
Lollie was the daughter of the late Peter and Annie (Goodwin) Romeo. She was a devoted mother and an extremely proud and affectionate grandmother who cherished time spent with family. A faithful and long-time member of St. Joseph Church in North Sydney, Lollie was known for her kindness, warmth, and dedication to those she loved. She enjoyed long walks with her husband, Ken, and life-long passion for ice skating. A familiar face at skating events throughout the area, she was well known for her graceful and beautiful skating stride.
Lollie is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ken, her daughter Nancy, and her grandchildren – Alex, Ben, and Nicola. She is also survived by her siblings – Stan, Angus, Ethel, and Margie, as well as her sister-in-law, Elaine MacNeil.
Besides her parents, Lollie was predeceased by siblings – Peter, Frankie, Louie, Johnny, Nora, Rosie, Pauline, Carmella, and Theresa.
A funeral mass for Laurette will be held at 11am on Monday, June 8, 2026, at St. Joseph Church in North Sydney with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
