Leo Forrest Obituary

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Leo David Forrest, a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, on Monday, June 3, 2024 at the age of 63.

Born on March 11, 1961, in North Sydney, Leo was the son of the late George and Eileen (Phalen) Forrest. He is survived by his daughters, Kiana (Austin) LeBlanc and Kendra (Jacob) Forrest, and his son, Lee (Maude) Brown, as well as the mother of his daughters, Janice Eady. Leo is also survived by his siblings, Joe (Rosemary) Woods, Monica Ann (Kenny) Walsh, Georgina (Brian) Watson, Karen (John) Forrest, Blair (Debbie) Forrest, Rhonda Forrest, Albert (Jennifer) Forrest, Michelle (Dwayne) Forrest, Wayne (Shirley) Forrest, and Julie (David) Keeping, along with many nieces and nephews. He was a proud grandfather to his beloved grandchildren, Jaxon, Ryker, Everlee, and Ellie, who were the lights of his life.

In addition to his parents, Leo was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Rean Evans and Jason Keeping.

Leo loved animals, especially his last dog, Sheba, who was his best friend. He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan. He cherished the outdoors and enjoyed observing wildlife. He shared a very special bond with his daughter Kiana, whom he called his "Earth Angel." They spent most afternoons together, going for drives with her children and getting coffee. Leo deeply loved his children and spoke very highly of them and their partners. They, along with his four beautiful grandchildren, were his pride and joy. Leo was always there to help others, forging many special connections and friendships. He will be remembered and missed by many family members, friends, and those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A private family service will be held in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leo’s memory may be made to The Heart & Lung Wellness Center or a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be sent to the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary at www.wjdooley.com
