It is with great sadness that we, the family of Leona (Bobbitt) Williams, regretfully announce her sudden passing on May 30, 2025, at the age of 75, at her home in North Sydney.
Born and raised in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Addie (Piercey) Bobbitt. Leona was a long-time server at the Clansman Motel where she met many new friends over the years. Leona was one who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life with her family, especially in the summertime when you would often find her sitting outside in the back-yard, enjoying a cold-one while listening to her “Newfie music.” She had even written her favourite saying on the barn in the back-yard – “we’re here for a good time, not a long time,” words by which she truly lived! She will be greatly missed.
Leona is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jobe Williams Jr; her son, Kenneth (Nicole) and daughter Barbara (Ross) MacNeil; grandchildren – Megan (James), Derek, Brandon (Allie), Jake (Landen), and Callie; sister, Laverna O’Brien and brother, Leonard Bobbitt Jr; brothers-in-law – David (Holly), Ron, and John (Dianne) Williams, along with sister-in-law, Phyllis Reid, plus many nieces and nephews
Besides her parents, Leona was predeceased by her brothers – Robert and Leonard Jr (the 1st); sisters – Sylvia Galpin and Grace Kirby; brother-in-law, Eugene O’Brien and sister-in-law, Wendy Boutilier.
A visitation for Leona will be held from 1 to 3pm on Friday, June 6, 2025 at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home at 107 Pleasant St. in North Sydney. Following the visitation, the family will proceed to Lakeside Cemetery for a committal service at 3pm to be officiated by Patrick O’Neill. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Leona’s name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada. Online condolences can be left for the family by writing on the tribute wall of the obituary page.
