Lewis Kenneth Morrissey Obituary

It is with tears and immense love that, we, the family of Lewis Kenneth Morrissey, share the news of his passing on July 3, 2025. Born September 26, 1956 to the late Walter and Cecilia (Logue) Morrissey, and predeceased by his brother, John Morrissey, and sister, Frances Wheaton.

For over 30 years, Dad owned and Managed Deervale Cottages that he helped build and operate with his father. He proudly built a reputation for kindness, hard-work and a warm welcome. Dad took great pride in painting, gardening and maintaining the “best-kept” lawn in Ingonish.

Being a grandparent was one of Dad’s greatest joys. He adored his grandchildren and treasured every moment spent together including video chats and receiving photos.

Dad is survived by his lifelong partner, Jacqueline Morrissey; his children, of whom he was incredibly proud - Morgan Morrissey (Danial Doherty), Kenny Morrissey, Devon Morrissey (Jennifer Arcand), Erin Morrissey (Johnny MacDonald) and Hannah Morrissey; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Danielle McKenna (Jamie Tompkins); and his cherished grand-children - Kaydence, Sophie, Lyanna, Avery, Juliette and Weston Lewis.

Dad also had a special place in his heart for his fur-family: Bella, Loki, Soleil, Honey and Murphy.

We would like to sincerely thank the palliative care team for their loving care and dedication.

Visitation for Lewis will be held from 10 to 11am on Tuesday, July 8, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ingonish with a funeral mass beginning at 11am in the church with Rev. Jonis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Online condolences can be left for the family by writing on the tribute wall of the obituary page. In lieu of donations and to honour dad’s tenderness, we would like to request that everyone do a simple act of kindness in his memory.

Dad always told us “Chin up” and “to put our best foot forward” so that’s what we will do.
