Linda Pond Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Linda Pond at the age of 81 on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in North Sydney on September 9, 1943, Linda was the daughter of the late Charles and Vivienne (Bungay) Clark. While her late husband Roy went to work for Marine Atlantic, Linda took care of the home, raising their children as well as many others who seemed to find their way into the home for one reason or another. Family was paramount to Linda. She worked hard to provide a happy healthy home, and showed great strength in times when it was struck with hardship and grief. Ever sentimental, she loved watching Hallmark movies, especially Christmas ones, even in July. And she loved Days of Our Lives.

Linda is survived by her two daughters – Sharon Cooke (Randy Townsend) and Angela (John) MacInnis; her grandchildren – Angela Rene, Amanda, Kaleigh, Kyle, Johnathan, and Zackary; great-grandchildren – Taylor, Patrick, Zachery, Aidan, Bryden, Aundrea, Cassidy, and Evelyn; sisters – Sharon McCormack, Jacklyn Clark, Bonnie Clark, Liam (Rick) Bird; sister-in-law, Brenda Clark and brother-in-law, Bill Barnes, along with several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Linda was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Roy; her son, Dwayne, and infant son, Harvey; brothers – Raymond, Wayne, and Eric Clark; brothers-in-law Norman and Ben, as well as sisters-in-law – Phoebe, Cavell, Mary, Jean, and Mae Barnes.

A funeral service for Linda will be held at 2 pm on Friday, June 13, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in North Sydney with Rev. Jackie Warren officiating. Committal will immediately follow in Lakeside Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of choice. Online condolences can be left for the family by writing on the tribute wall of the obituary page.
