It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Linda Anne Serroul, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Linda passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2025, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 26th, 1949, in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late John and Annie (McCready) Iannetti.
In her younger years, Linda was well known through her involvement with The Coal Dust Carnival and the CWL. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, she loved performing at community events—especially at “Coffee House,” where she would later meet her husband, Lorne. Music remained a meaningful part of her life, and in her later years, she sang faithfully with the choir at St. Joseph Church in Bras d’Or.
Linda devoted many years to her career as a stylist, first in her own salon and later as an instructor at Patrick’s Beauty College. Her clients and students adored her for her warm smile, her passion for the craft, and the genuine care she showed everyone who sat in her chair or learned from her.
From 1992 to 1999, Linda and her husband, Lorne, owned and operated Englishtown Ridge Campground. She quickly became a favourite among the campers, remembered for her kindness and her remarkable ability to recall every face and family who visited.
Committed to a healthy lifestyle for more than 50 years, Linda was an active and enthusiastic member of TOPS/Choose to Lose. There, she formed meaningful friendships rooted in support, healthy eating, and staying active—values she lived by every day.
In the early 1980s, Linda discovered aqua fitness, a passion that grew into over 45 years of teaching water aerobics at the Northside Community Pool. Her “mermaids,” along with the staff who worked beside her, will deeply miss her bright presence and the joy she brought into the water.
Linda was never one to be idle. She poured her heart into keeping her home and cottage beautiful, inside and out. She loved her walks, her beach-glassing adventures, her travels near and far, but nothing made her happier than creating beautiful meals and sharing them with the people she loved most.
She is survived by her son, Lorne Serroul (Rosalee Pendergast ), and daughter Melissa (David) Vokey; two grandchildren, Aiden & Reilly, along with step-granddaughters Samantha, Abby & Bria; siblings - Lydia Saker, John Iannetti, Charles Iannetti (Louise Prince Iannetti), Gregory Iannetti (Mary Mellen), and Angela Iannetti, as well as several nieces and nephews. Linda will also be missed by her sister-in-law, Vivian (Bill) Russel and special friend, Marc Mezetta.
Besides her parents, Linda was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lorne, with whom she had been married for 44 years.
Linda had a gift: the ability to make the world feel softer and more hopeful just by being in it. She touched so many lives with her kindness and lit up every room with her spirit. Her light remains with all of us.
A special thank you to the many doctors & nurses at both Northside General
Hospital & the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer Center, and for the comforting visits and timely prayers from Rev. Doug MacDonald and Deacon David Lewis.
