On Friday, October 4, 2024, we lost a fine person. Lloyd Campbell MacLean passed away peacefully in his sleep after a long battle. Lloyd, a Cape Breton son, was proud to be from the island. Born in North Sydney on November 17, 1952, he was the son of the late Bill “William” and Pearl (Stagg) MacLean.
A graduate of Acadia University, Lloyd went on to earn his CPA and then his MBA from Harvard Business School. He was a brother, a husband, a father, a cousin and a loyal friend. His travels took him around the world and even into the skies when he had his pilots license. He was always up for an adventure whether on the boat at the cottage, his motorcycle or his Corvette. He was known to take the road less travelled, was an avid reader, a lover of history and of learning. He was generous to a fault. He never hesitated to offer advice he thought would be helpful. He always had a Diet Coke in hand and was always up for a trip to Waffle House or one of his favorite Italian restaurants. He accomplished much but most important to him was his family.
He is survived by his daughter Victoria (Spencer) and son Spencer (Shannon) and his brother Don (Wendy).
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his dear wife Janice (Pittaway) MacLean.
Lloyd will make one last trip “down east” to the cottage where he will rest peacefully next to his parents Bill and Pearl.
A graveside committal will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26th at the MacDonald Cemetery in Ross Ferry under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A reception will follow immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Online condolences may be sent to the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary at www.wjdooley.com.
