It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Lillian Mae (LeBlanc) MacLean, age 84 of Boisdale on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Northside General Hospital with her daughters by her side.
Born in Florence on May 8, 1941, Mae was the daughter of the late Alexander and Lillian (Jessome) LeBlanc. Mae was a caring and loving person. She took great pride in her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed her family chitchats on the phone, playing bingo and family card games. Mae also loved watching sports and her soaps with her cuddly cat on her lap.
Mae is survived by her loving husband of fifty-three years, John MacLean; daughters Marlene MacLean and Karen (Rory) Redden; grandchildren Joseph (Sasha) MacLean, Sarah and Kristen Redden; great grandchildren Haylen, Lily, Josie, Parker, Sophie and Liam MacLean; sisters Marguerite MacIntyre, Elaine Wheeler; brothers Douglas, Purvis (Sylvia), Louis (Marilyn), Daniel (Patricia) and Garfield LeBlanc and also survived by many special nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents Mae was predeceased by her sisters; Helen MacNeil, Rosella Steele, Juanita Day and Sr. Marie; brothers Clarence, Ben, Georgie, Stephen (her twin), Richard, and Ambrose LeBlanc.
A visitation for Mae will be held from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, July 2, in St. Andrews Church, Boisdale. A funeral Mass will be held 11 am on Thursday, July 3, at St. Andrews Church, Boisdale officiated by Fr. Victor Ozonoh and Fr. Allan MacMillan concelebrating. Burial will follow at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Boisdale. Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Centre at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St, North Sydney.
