Marguerite "Marg" "Nan" Rose (Leyte) McInnis Obituary
With deeply grateful hearts, we, the family of Marguerite Rose “Marg” McInnis, age 88, recently of the Miner's Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines, announce her passing on Saturday, May 30, at the QE11 in Halifax. Nan passed peacefully listening to "Delta Dawn" as her husband Bud and her family surrounded her.
Together, Marg and Bud were a true example of what love and family was all about. They enjoyed celebrating their lives watching and attending any sports event they could possibly see but their highlight was always cheering for their grandchildren, Glenn, David and Kelli on every game and tournament they were in. They were her pride and joy and meant everything to her.
In her younger years, Marg was an avid softball and ringette player and bowling team member. Nan loved playing cards and going to bingo with her sisters and family members whenever she was able. She was an active member of the St. Wesley United Church. Until her stroke, 9 years ago, she was an active walker and enjoyed meeting at Tim Horton's with their Walking Club Friends. No matter what challenges Nan faced, she always had a smile on her face, a pot of tea ready on the stove, something great to eat and open arms to everyone she knew. She was the most kind hearted and beautiful soul we have ever known. Nan made everyone feel special; a true gift from Heaven. She will be missed beyond words.
Marg is survived by her soul mate, husband and best friend of 67 years, Bud (Joseph) McInnis; her sons, Rod (Wendy), Blair (Jacqueline), Brian (Stephanie) and Keith (Lisa). Nan will be greatly missed by her 7 grandchildren; Joey (Jolene), Alicia, Jessica, Glenn (Amy), David (Olivia), Kelli (Brandon), Nicholas and her 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her special sister, Ollie and sisters-in-law, Carmie, Shirley, Adele and Linda and brothers-in-law, Peter, Reid and Stan. Nan also had so many close family members, friends and care workers who mean the world to her. You all know how much she loved you and how important you were in her life. Thank you for loving her so much.
Besides her parents, the late Margaret and Walter Leyte, Marg was predeceased by her siblings, Clayton, Harry, George, Charles, Walter, Percy, Norman, Stanley, Lloyd, Mildred, Edith, Louise, Willena and Irene; a special grandson, Jesse as well as many sisters and brothers in law.
Marg's family would like to extend a special thank you to the amazing and special staff of the Northside Continuing Care Workers and VONs, the CB Regional CCU and QE11 CCU and to the Miner's Memorial Manor. To Yvonne and Lucy, you are truly angels. To all of you, your love, dedication and care helped make our journey with Nan, a blessing. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Visitation for Marg will be held in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney on Sunday, June 7 from 12:00-2:00 pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. The service will be live streamed on the W. J. Dooley Facebook Page and will be available to download for a month. There will be a gathering from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Northside Legion, Branch 19 in North Sydney after the Service. We would love to see everyone there. There will be no burial service at this time.
