Marie "Mary" (Slaptsis) Baxendale

It is with heartfelt sadness that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Marie “Mary” (Slaptsis) Baxendale, at the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney, on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the age of 80.

Born in Skopia Florina, Greece on August 27, 1944, Mary was the daughter of the late Paul and Petra (Vetas) Slaptsis. Mary was a very easy going person, had a wonderful sense of humor and loved dancing and music. Family was important to her and she loved them deeply. She will be missed but never forgotten.  

Mary is survived by her daughter: Cheryl (Sheldon) LeFrense; sister: Christine (Brian) Fox; the love of her life and grandson: Cohen LeFrense; niece Heidi, great niece; Brooklyn, nephew; Jamie (Shannon)

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband; Paul Baxendale, daughters; Brenda Baxendale and Tracey Baxendale; brother: Louis Slaptsis.

The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the staff at the Northside Community Guest Home, who provided such wonderful care towards Marie.

Cremation has taken place and burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Online condolences can be left for the family on the tribute wall of the obituary.
