With heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Marjorie Doreen Douglas, age 95, on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Toronto on September 21, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Georgina Bolen. In her earlier years, during the war Marjorie worked in ammunition factories in Ontario where she also taught roller skating. After moving to North Sydney, she was employed with the Dietary Staff at the Northside General Hospital for many years. Marjorie was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney.
She is survived by her three daughters, Alfreda Douglas, Halifax, Debbie (Don) Merritt, Sydney Mines, Joanne (Blaine) Morrison, Kentville, daughter-in-law Clea Douglas, Lower Sackville, her six grandchildren Ian, Gillian, Neal, Geoffrey, Mark, Christina and four great-grandchildren Max, Libby, Avery and Charlie.
She was predeceased by her husband Alfred, her son Ensell, her brothers Grant, Frank and Ron and her sister Jackie McMaster.
There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
