We regret to announce the peaceful passing of Marjorie Merrill, age 91, at the Northside Community Guest Home on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

Born in Dominion on December 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Eric and Florence (MacPherson) Scott.

Prior to her marriage, Marjorie was employed as a telephone operator but spent most of her life as a homemaker in Dominion, Boularderie and Sydney; which was her true vocation.

In her younger years, she volunteered her time in the church as a choir member, substitute organist and as a teacher in the Sunday School and church youth groups.

Marjorie loved the outdoors and enjoyed walking, swimming and sailing. She also enjoyed travelling with her husband George and spending time with her family.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Gerald) Lamey; granddaughters, Allison (Paul) Mackenzie and Jennifer (Andrew) Tew; great grandchildren, Briar, Eli and Arden; sister, Marilyn MacDougall and several nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George; son, Geordie; brother, Jack Scott; brother-in-law, Jim MacDougall; sister-in-law, Carol Scott and nephews, Eric MacDougall and Stephen Scott.

There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com.
