Marlene Bailey Obituary

Marlene Bailey

North Sydney

With heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Marlene May Bailey, age 68, on Monday, June 6, 2022 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Born in Montreal, Quebec on March 29, 1954, Marlene was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Madden) Rahey.  Marlene was a school teacher for 38 years, a special education teacher for many of those years and retired as Vice Principal of Ferrisview, the former St. Mary’s School. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Church in North Sydney, choir director and organist for the senior choir for 40 years and member of the CWL for 35 years.  She loved children and enjoyed being a Brownie Leader, she was an avid sewer, loved making crafts and was always thinking of others before herself.  She enjoyed her involvement with the Dinner Theatre at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church and was a member of the Sydney Mines Pensioners Club.

She is survived by her husband John, her daughter Meghan (Joel) Bailey MacIsaac, her two sons John David (Leah), James (Tara), her four grandchildren Lila, Luna, Ryleigh and Madeline; her brother Robert (Debbie) Rahey, brother-in-law Ford Green, sisters-in-law Barbara Ann, Barbara, Sheila and Mary, nieces and nephews, and special cousin Cathy Balah.

Besides her parents, Marlene was predeceased by her sister Patsy Green and brother Donald Rahey.

Many thanks to Renal Dialysis, Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Dr. Hickey, Dr. Hewlett, Dr. Shimon and Dr. Wambolt for the care given to Marlene.
