It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Mary Doreen Bishop, age 61, our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in Sydney Mines on October 9, 1961, Mary was the daughter of Carmelita “Carm” (O’Toole) Lyle and the late George “Edgar” Lyle.

Mary was a dedicated LPN for over 30 years at Miner’s Memorial Manor providing care for the residents. She worked with many co-workers over the years which she considered friends.

Mary loved spending time with her family and friends.

Besides her mother, Mary is survived by her husband Ken, step-children Jonathan Bishop (Judith Cote`); Holly Bishop (Rob Foster), whom she loved dearly, along with nine grandchildren; Isaiah, Jordan, Jaden, Felicity, Savannah, River, Adley, Ellie and Sawyer; her godchildren Caelin, Matthew and Haley; brothers Edgar, Bill (Kerry) and Sandy; sister Ann Marie Lyle; nephews Blaise and Jessie.

Mary was predeceased by her father George “Edgar” Lyle.

A funeral service for Mary will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J.
