Mary “Cathy” Catherine Pedersen, age 86, a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home and formerly of Millville, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 12, 2021 at the Northside General Hospital.

Born in Sydney Mines, on July 29, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Ronald and Margaret (MacNeil) MacLellan.  Cathy worked for years as a cashier and head cashier for Sobeys in Sydney Mines, North Sydney and Antigonish before raising her family. 

Left to celebrate her life are her only son Andrew (Charlene) Pedersen, Millville, her grandchildren Dane and Kathryn of whom she was so proud and loved dearly, her sister Alma MacLellan CND, Port Felix, brothers-in-law Gaza Soltesz ,Wolfville, Daniel Prince, Sydney, sisters-in-law Mary MacLellan, Sydney, Irene MacLellan, Bathurst and Pierrette MacLellan, Sydney, many nieces and nephews.

Going ahead of Cathy on her journey was her husband Hans, brothers Allan, Ronald, John, Angus, and Paul, sisters Rita, Ann Marie, Sarah “Toni”, Eldene “Deannie”, brothers-in-law Christian Pedersen and Melvin MacLennan, sisters-in-law Joan and Theresa, nephews Ronnie,  Wayne, George, and niece and god-daughter Melanie MacLennan Fraser.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation as per her request. There will be a private family memorial service at a later date under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
