Matthew “Logan” Keeping
Fort McMurray
It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we mourn the passing of our best friend, our baby brother, Matthew 'Logan' Keeping, 36, of Fort McMurray, AB. Our world was shattered on the 27th of September, 2023. Born in Sydney, he was the beloved son of Mary Jo (Hurd) and Terry Keeping.
Forever loved by his son, Matthias and daughter Charlie, brother Neil (Denise), sister Amanda, niece and nephew, Tatum and Nash, and Mother, Mary-Jo. Numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. He was predeceased by our father Terry, and both maternal and paternal grandparents, Gertrude Cordero, Albert Hurd, Wanda & Bill Keeping.
Logan graduated high school with an electrical trade and went on to study Electrical Construction at Nova Scotia Community College. He reached the highest level of certification for his trade, becoming a Red Seal Electrician. He worked in Halifax and Fort McMurray, where he relocated with his family over six years ago.
Logan's love for the outdoors began in Boularderie, where we were raised. He enjoyed time spent on “Sandy beach” fishing, camping, riding dirt bikes and just being out in the woods. His love for nature followed him into adulthood, and he enjoyed many outdoor adventures with his children.
Logan was a beautiful human with a kind soul. He was soft-hearted, easy going and always smiling. He was always eager to help anyone in any way he could. He loved animals, takin' in strays and rescues over the years. He was a hard worker who valued quality work. We will miss his quick wit, incredible sense of humor and infectious laugh.
In his youth he spoke about his dream of becoming a Dad...a role he was destined to fulfill. His proudest moments were the births of his children, Matthias and Charlie. He absolutely adored them and thoroughly enjoyed spending every minute he could with them. He was an attentive, patient, devoted, loving, and hands-on Dad, involving his children in everything he could. He gave them a life every child deserves, a life filled with unconditional love, fun, and adventures. We were so proud of him for various reasons, but we were especially proud of the amazing father he was. His children were truly his heart, his pride and joy.
There will be a visitation for Logan from 2 – 4 pm, Saturday, November 4, 2023, at W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Burial to follow at a later date. Online condolences can be left for the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary at www.wjdooley.com.
“Until we meet again, we'll carry you in our hearts”
