Maureen Churchill Obituary

Maureen Elizabeth Churchill (Collins)

North Sydney/New Waterford

It is with broken hearts and deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our precious wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Maureen Churchill on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in North Sydney on August 25, 1961 to the late Martin and Dorothy (Holbeche) Collins, she lived most of her life in Cape Breton and spent some years in New Brunswick before returning to Cape Breton, the home of her heart. Her life was devoted to her family and friends, who were always placed unselfishly before her own health and needs. Her love was unconditional and all encompassing, she was never one to judge and always the first to offer care and help to whomever needed without concern for herself. A true angel, who will now wear her wings proudly as she watches over us from Heaven.

She is survived by her devoted husband Tony, children Joshua and Rebecca, stepson Trevor Murphy (Nicole), grandchildren Matt, Cassidy and Ethan, sister Debbie MacLeod, brothers Wilson and Bruce, nieces Lisa MacLeod, Angelica Calderon (Collins), Vega Calderon, nephews Martin Collins, Noah and Kylo Calderon.  Bella, Maureen’s precious puppy will also miss her dearly.

From Tony’s family, she is survived by her stepmother-in-law Anne Marie, sisters-in-law Paula Glendon (Mike) and Deborah White (Bernie), brothers-in-law Dan (Darlene), Stephen (Carol), Russell (Kathie) and Ronnie (Suzanne), and their families.

Besides her parents Dorothy and Martin she is predeceased by her brother Gary.  She is also predeceased by her parents-in-law John and Virginia, and sister-in-law Carmela Jean in infancy.

A light from our family is gone, a voice we loved is stilled, a place is vacant in our hearts that never can be filled.

Funeral arrangements to be announced at a later date under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com.
