Melissa Geraldine MacAulay

It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Melissa Geraldine MacAulay, on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the age of 37.

Born in North Sydney on December 8, 1987, Melissa is the daughter of Wayne and Geraldine (McInnis) MacAulay.

After overcoming her own personal struggles in life, Melissa dedicated herself to helping others.  She worked at Community Cares Youth Outreach in Sydney Mines and formed a strong bond with many people there. The family wish to extend a sincere thank you to “my girls” at Community Cares for all their love and support. She had a keen sense of humour and was called by many “a standup comedian”.  Melissa also had a close relationship with her niece and nephew whom she considered the light of her life.

Left to mourn her passing are her parents Wayne and Geraldine MacAulay, her sister Sonya (Andrew) Stamper and her niece and nephew Tessa and Brady Stamper. Melissa is also survived by her uncles and aunts; Terry McInnis, Sandy, Billy, Brian and Patti MacAulay, Beatrice Squarey, and many cousins. She will be missed by her fur baby, Rosie.  Melissa was predeceased by her son Dawson William Wayne MacAulay, who died at birth, her grandparents Cecilia and Angus MacAulay, Gerald and Sonja MacInnis and her fiancé George.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  Online condolences can be left for the family on the tribute wall of the obituary.
