It is with heartfelt sadness the family announce the passing of Mildred (Iannetti) Keeping, age 85, on Monday, August 31, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Mildred was born and raised in Sydney Mines on March 20, 1935, the daughter of the late Earl and Una (Foote) Nelson.  She was employed for a number of years at H.B. Nickerson & Sons, Dr. M. Shaikh and also the Inverary Inn in Baddeck. 

Mildred was predeceased by her first husband Armanda Iannetti, her daughter Barbara Gaudreault, her son William Iannetti and son-in-law Paul St. Cyr.

Left to mourn her passing is her husband Brian Keeping, North Sydney, her children Emmanuel Iannetti (Dianne), Una Rusenstrom (Joe), Frankie Iannetti, Amelia Buffett (Johnnie), Glenn Iannetti (Ruth), Jennifer Miller (Jeff) and Corrina St. Cyr, her 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is her sister Winnie (Clevie) Gerrow, her brother Robert Nelson and her best friend Margie Keeping. 

Special thanks to all the nurses, doctors, EHS, Palliative Care and VON for their care and compassion. 

A private family visitation and service will be held in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  A graveside committal service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines with retired Corps Sargent Major Cyril Keeping officiating.  All are welcome with masks and social distancing required.
