Mildred Vivian (Baggs) MacLean

With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Mildred Vivian MacLean on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the age of 79.  Born in North Sydney to the late John and Bertha (Hatcher) Baggs, Mildred was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a sister, an aunt, and a friend to many.

Mildred was a happy and generous person. She loved when company would call to the house to share stories and laughter. She enjoyed games of bingo and cribbage – getting a game in most days with friends on the computer. The only time you were encouraged not to call the house was during her cherished Days of Our Lives and later in the evening during Are You Being Served?

Mildred is survived by her husband and the love of her life, Robert MacLean; her children – John Haggett (Andrea), Laura (Shane) Byrne, and Tanya Haggett (Phil); step children – Bobby (Noelle), Kevin and Greg MacLean; grandchildren – Steven, Ryan, Courtney, Kyesha, Alexander, Kelsey, Hannah, Megan, Alessa, Cadence, Anna Claire, Ava, Mya, and Phoenix, along with numerous great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings – Rosella (Manuel) Keagan, Jim (Pauline) Baggs, and Cecil (Yvonne) Baggs, as well as her special daughter, Cheryl McGean.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was predeceased by her first husband, Lloyd Haggett; great-grandson Ethan James; mother-in-law, Margaret MacLean and brother-in-law, Billy MacLean; son-in-law, Sean Pitts; nephews Daniel and James Keagan; her life long, best friend Kathleen Parsons.

A visitation will be held for Mildren from 1 to 3p.m. on February 6, 2025, at W.J. Dooley Funeral Home at 107 Pleasant St. in North Sydney with a funeral service immediately following at 3p.m. of the same day with Marjorie Serafinus officiating. The service will be live-streamed on the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Facebook page. Online condolences can be left for the family by writing on the tribute wall of the obituary page.
