Mildred "Dot" Inder Obituary

It is with great sadness that we, the family, wish to announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Mildred Helen Inder, on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Northside Community Guest Home, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 92.

Born in North Sydney, Dot was the daughter of the late Henry (Harry) and Rachel (Price) Witherall.

Dot lived a rich and full life in which she pursued many interests and passions. She loved fly-fishing, hunting and camping with her family.  She was part of the Wednesday night women’s bowling league as well as the ladies Thursday night club and enjoyed a good game of bingo, especially with her special bingo buddy her granddaughter Ashley. Mom was a wonderful baker and cook. She enjoyed making crafts to spark her creative side.  Most importantly, Mom was a devoted wife and mother, and loved spending time with her family and was always up for a road trip, which earned her the name from Don, “The Road Runner”. Dot and Don raised eight children together and they were so proud to see the family abound with grand and great-grandchildren over the years.

Dot is survived by her children Diane Ball (James Husband), Jim (Cheryl), Joanne (Clyde) Keeping, Lois (Matt) Richardson, Terry (Tracey) Inder, Tracey Inder (Bruno Procopio), Serena (James) McKenzie, Jacqueline Inder-McInnis (Blair); 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Mom is also survived by her sister Pauline (Steve) MacKeigan.

Besides her parents, Dot was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Donald, her grandson Jason, daughter-in-law Diane, her brothers George, Charlie, Bill, Ben, Fred and Ray, and by her sisters Fran, Olive, Beatrice, Edith, Annie and Muriel.

There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

When Tomorrow starts without me,

Please try to understand,

That an Angel came and called my name,

And took me by the hand;

The angel said my place was ready,

In Heaven far above,

And that I’d have to leave behind

All those I dearly love.

But when I walked

Through Heaven’s gates,

I felt so much at home,

For God looked down, smiled at me,

And told me “Welcome Home.”

So when tomorrow starts without me,

Don’t think we’re far apart,

For every time you think of me,

I’m right there in your heart.
