Milton Farrell Obituary

Milton Farrell

North Sydney/Truro

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of well-known North Sydney resident, Milton Farrell, age 92, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro.

Born in North Sydney, he was a son of the late Fred and Florence (Hare) Farrell.

Milton was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Northern Canada at Fort Good Hope.

An electrician by trade, Dad could repair most things and was always there to lend a hand when called upon. He was a co-owner of northside rental company, Fred Farrell and Sons Ltd., operated a mink farm for a period of time during the 1970’s, but possibly was best known as Supervisor of Public Works with the Town of North Sydney for over twenty years.

He was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #19 and served as a Commissioned Officer with the 129 Caribou Sea Cadets North Sydney.

When Dad wasn’t working you would find him doing crosswords in his favourite chair. Dad loved spending time in Long Island, Cape Breton picking blackberries and relaxing near the water with family.

Milton is survived by his wife Jean (Lawless) Farrell; children, Betty (Bryden) MacDougall, Antigonish; David (Virginia) Farrell, Stewiacke; Blair (Flor) Farrell, Hamilton, ON; Patricia Pero, Hammonds Plains; Grandchildren, Alexandra, Kayla, Sarah, Jessica, Chelsea, Jacob, Mora, Hunter, Mark, Maddy and a sister, Florence (Faye) Keeping, Kingston, ON.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by two infant grandchildren, Tanner and Derek and by three siblings, Zenith, Fred and Betty Bent.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2018, at St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
