It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Monica Yvonne Robertson, age 76, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in North Sydney on March 9, 1946, Monica was the daughter of the late Peter and Grace (Blackmore) Whalen. She was a graduate of St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth and Northside General Hospital throughout her career. Monica enjoyed watching sports especially skating and tennis.

Monica is survived by her husband Rob Robertson, by her sons; Brett (Myla) and Peter Robertson, both of British Columbia, grandchildren Tyler, Connor, Grey and Marin, by her brother Dan (Judy) Whalen, Sydney Mines, a number of nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Monica was predeceased by brothers Harry, Morgan, George and Vince Whalen, sister Phyllis Andrea.

By request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the W.J.
