It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Marie Mansfield, age 85, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, on Friday September 4, 2020 at the Northside Community Guest Home.

Born in Bras d’Or, June 10, 1935 and former longtime resident of 10 Main Street, Nancy was the daughter of the late Patrick and Leona (LeBlanc) O’Toole. She was in charge of handling the CN Freight in Bras d’Or for a number of years, later was a school crossing guard until her retirement. She volunteered at the Bras d’Or school with the breakfast and lunch programs. Nancy was a devout member of St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or.

She enjoyed knitting, but most of all loved spending time with her family especially babysitting her grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her daughter Leona Mansfield (Ken Marsh), Mill Creek, a son Mel (Vicki) Mansfield, Bras d’Or, daughters-in-law Linda Mansfield and Betty Mansfield, grandchildren Danny, Billy Joe, Christa, Amanda, Ryan, Kyle, Erica, great grandchildren Asher, Levi, Rory, Sidney, Dani and Laila, brothers Stanley (Sadie) O’Toole and Donnie (Doris) O’Toole, both of Bras d’Or, sisters-in-law Phyllis Mansfield and Becky Mansfield, brother-in-law Peter Mansfield also by a number of nieces and nephews.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband Daniel Mansfield, by two sons Daniel and Lawrence Mansfield, sisters Teresa Cashin, Helen Cashin, Maydell LeBlanc, brothers Terrance, Gussie and Lawrence O’Toole.

A private visitation will be held in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A private funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, followed by burial in the Parish Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com .
