Neil Pardy Obituary

Neil Pardy

Balls Creek

It is with broken hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, Neil Wayne Pardy, age 66, at Hospice Cape Breton on December 27, 2022, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Sydney Mines on August 29, 1956, Neil was the son of Neil Pardy and the late Bessie (Forrest) Pardy. Neil was a quiet man, as many know, and was a very hard worker, making his family his first priority.  A fisherman at heart, Neil spent many years doing what he was born and loved to do - being on the open water fishing lobster.  His heart and soul were the sea. He was an avid hunter who loved the woods and a sport fisherman, always adding a few pounds on each catch while telling his story.  We can't forget that he kept all his hunting and fishing spots a secret, which he always did with a grin. Neil was a member of the union local 92 and worked in Alberta when he wasn't being a skipper.

Neil is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Brenda (Leblanc) Pardy; his 2 children, of whom he was very proud, Neil (Jeana) and Michelle (Kyle); his grandchildren - Seth (poppy's boy) and Tris; father, Neil; sister, Kathleen (Harvey); special nephew, Randy (Amy), along with numerous other nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his mother Bessie (March 11, 2022); his maternal grandparents, George and Mary Forrest; paternal grandparents, Randell and Kathleen Pardy; mother and father in-law, Ernest and Mary Leblanc.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of palliative care, VON, Hospice Cape Breton, the cancer unit, and Dr. Saliba for their compassion, kindness, and support. It will never be forgotten. We would also like to express how thankful and grateful our family is to Robert and Paula LeBlanc (Neil's brother and sister in-law) for their support, kindness and guidance throughout Neil's illness. To Neil’s close friend, Bud Rice, for being his spiritual support - thank-you.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at this time by request.   A graveside service will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney.  Donations may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center or Hospice Cape Breton.   Online condolences may be sent to the family by leaving a message on the tribute page of the obituary at www.wjdooley.com.

I am standing upon the dock

My boat at my side

Waiting for me to sail her

Into the morning breeze

And head for the open sea.

 Forever in our hearts,

"Skipper"
