It is with great sorrow and broken hearts we mourn the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt and friend, Nellie Christena Seymour on Friday, October 6, 2023 at the age of 86. Mom passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family at her side.

Born in Margaree, Inverness County on July 6 1937 to the late William and Mary (Fraser) Crowdis. Mom leaves to mourn, her loving husband of 58 years Harold Seymour, her son Hilton (Margaret) Seymour, Middleton NS, her daughter Mary Lynn (Clarence) MacIntyre, North Sydney, granddaughters; Amanda (Anthony) Zadeh, Lynsey MacIntyre (Dave Walker) and Kerri Seymour, her grandson; Lucas MacIntyre (Courtney Whitty), great grandsons; Nathan and Bodhi Walker, great granddaughter; Cecilia Zadeh, sisters-in-law; Maisie (Allan) Strickland, Levinia Seymour and brother-in-law; Max Croucher, also numerous nieces and nephews who loved aunt Nellie dearly and several cousins.

Besides her parents Nellie was predeceased by her sister Hilda, three brothers in infancy, one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law. Mom had a lengthy career in teaching in which she was well respected by her peers and students. Nellie was a longtime active member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church. Mom’s greatest joy in her life was her family in which she truly enjoyed every moment spent with them, right up to her final days.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Alex Wawer, Alice Rogers NP, VON, Palliative Care, Northside Homemakers for their love and compassion shown to Mom over the years.

A visitation for Nellie will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, October 9th in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 10th at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Debbie Fice officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers we ask that you go hug your loved ones and spread kindness.
