Patricia Kendall Obituary

Patricia Young-Kendall

March 8, 1943-February 22, 2023

Our beloved and devoted mom, grandmother, sister, and friend Patsy went to her heavenly home February 22, 2023 at the age of 79 surrounded by her loved ones.

Patsy was a faithful woman who loved God and her family with her whole being.  She had a heart of pure gold, a truly kind and loving person at her very core.  Patsy was such a sweet soulful person.  Anyone in her presence felt it and you were a better person because of her.  She was extremely compassionate and sensitive to the needs of others and would always go out of her way to help anyone. She saw the good in all people.   Patsy devoted her younger years as the sole caretaker to a physically disabled man, Wilfred Lawley.  For many years she was his nurse, personal assistant, cook, housekeeper, and travel companion on his many medical trips to Halifax.

Fishing and Elvis Presley were her two passionate hobbies in life.  Without a doubt, Elvis Presley's biggest fan had to be Patsy.  There wasn't one fact of his life she didn't know.  She read every book, watched every movie, and listened to his songs for hours each night before bedtime.  She could fish like a pro and nothing pleased her more than spending a day on the lake, fishing with her beloved husband Wally.

Patsy is survived by her son Jamie (Leisje), and daughters Brenda (Billy) and Joni (Joe).  She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sisters Marjorie (Maurice), Elizabeth (Elmer, deceased), Barbara (John), Betty (Reuben), Holly (Dave), Susie (Roger), Dolly (Chess), Sugar (Richard), Paula (Gary), her brothers Billy (Cathy), Brian (Melinda), her sister-in-law Margaret Ramsey, and her good friend Minnie.  Her pride and joy were her grandsons Koady and Aaron, and her furry grand pet Eddie.

She was predeceased by her husband Wallace Kendall, her parents Lou and Alice Young, her sisters Agnes, Judy, and Rosemary, and her brothers Davey and Johnny.

Special thanks to the extraordinary care given around the clock by her sisters, Betty (AKA Nurse Ratched) and her assistant Holly.  Also, many thanks to the Community Palliative Care team, the VON, Continuing Care administration, and Meadows Pharmasave for their care and professionalism.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating.  Burial at Lakeside Cemetery will take place at a later date.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  Online condolences may be sent to the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary at www.wjdooley.com.

Mom, you will be truly missed, it will never be the same drinking a cup a tea without you!

We love you!
