It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Paul Rowe Davidson, age 80, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at his home with his wife Joyce by his side.

Paul was born on November 29, 1942 and raised in Glace Bay, the son of the late Spurgeon and Gertrude (Rowe) Davidson. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Joyce (Long) Davidson; his three children Stephanie Davidson (Chris), Sesaly Davidson (Tony), Mark Davidson; step-children John Ronayne, Billy-Jo Ronayne, Monique Ronayne (Scott); grandchildren Mattea, Owen, Ellis, Parker; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his niece Janey (David) Hughes. Paul was predeceased by his parents; son Matthew Davidson; sisters Dorothy Dicaire and Evelynn Davidson and brother Earl Davidson.

Paul had a contented childhood growing up on Edgar Street with his loving parents. He started working at Cameron’s Building Supplies in grade 11 and took an instrumentation course before starting his career at Sydney Steel Corporation. Paul enjoyed carpentry, especially woodworking; cars; listening to music, especially country and bluegrass, and had a special place in his heart for Garth Brooks; watching hockey, especially Sydney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins. He enjoyed home comforts such as watching his favourite shows (especially Seinfeld and The Big Bang Theory), eating Joyce’s home cooked meals and being visited by his family.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  A funeral service for Paul will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Barron officiating and burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. A reception will follow the service at the Pensioners Club in North Sydney. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Paul may be made to the Glace Bay Food Bank.  Online condolences may be sent to the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary at www.wjdooley.com.
