Paul MacVicar
Sydney
It is with great sadness that we announce the unfortunate death of Paul Edward MacVicar. Paul passed peacefully on Monday, June 27, 2022 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after fighting complications from a major heart attack.
Born in Sydney on July 27, 1967, Paul was the son of Shirley MacVicar Ross and the late Sterling MacVicar. Along with his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sheila and their three children Samantha, Brenden and Sabrina MacVicar, as well as his brothers Scott (Sonia) and Stephen MacVicar.
Graduating from Sydney Academy in 1985, Paul was a man of many talents who built a career long-haul truck driving, operating heavy equipment in Fort McMurray, and running his own landscaping business in Cape Breton with his son Brenden. Married on September 1, 1990 to Sheila, they raised their three beautiful children from their home in North Sydney.
Paul spent the majority of his time working to provide for his family who he loved dearly. In his free time he would be seen coaching or refereeing local basketball, baseball and soccer teams or one of his favourite things to do - having a good game of “bish” with his mother Shirley. He also spent time with his family pets who he always loved. Paul was a man like any other, who at times struggled under the immense pressure life can apply, though he always tried his best to care for his family and give them the tools they’d need to do the same. Paul will be deeply missed by all who cared for him.
We’d like to thank the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for all their care and effort. In Paul’s memory, donations can be made to mental health.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Online condolences may be sent to the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary page at www.wjdooley.com.
