It is with great sadness we, the family, announce the unexpected passing of Peter Kenneth Campbell, age 70, after a brief illness, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on July 1, 1954, Peter was the son of the late Peter and Ethel (MacKinnon) Campbell.
Peter was an employee at Devco for 25 years. He was a hard worker and wonderful friend to many. He loved his family and was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild. The light of his life was his best friend and adoring wife Sheila, of 42 years. He felt blessed to have a wonderful daughter Amber.
Peter had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. He lived his life to the fullest. In his younger years he enjoyed camping and dancing. He was a kind and compassionate person. He had great love for his pets Chaos and Misty. Peter was a long-time fan of the Montreal Canadians. He will be missed by his family, friends, nieces, nephews and cousins, but never forgotten.
Peter is survived his wife Sheila (Crowther) Campbell, daughter Amber Campbell; siblings Mary (Clem) Pouliot and Donald Campbell.
Besides his parents, Peter was predeceased by his sisters Catherine Mott, Betty Young, Alice Wilson, and brother Gerald Campbell.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Harbourview Hospital, Sydney Mines, and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their kindness and care.
Visitation for Peter will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Monday, May 12, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 13, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, North Sydney. Burial to follow at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Online condolences may be sent to the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary.
