It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, uncle, grandfather, great grand-father and friend, Philip Thomas Organ, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney on July 20, 1927, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Skinner) Organ.
Philip is survived by his daughter Catherine (Lorne) Bond, sons William James, Philip Thomas (Lynn) and Mark Troy (Marie). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and many great grand-children, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Philip was predeceased by his wife Catherine Jean Organ, his son Eric Davey Organ, his brother John and sisters Margaret Hood, Geraldine Mitchell, Ann Walker, Hazel MacDonald, Mary MacIntyre and Cass Walsh.
Philip was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces and served in the Korean War. He was also an accomplished author writing two books “Little One” and “Stories, Fables and Poems”. Philip was married to his late wife and love of his life Catherine, February 18, 1949. During his lifetime he was respected by the many individuals who worked with him. Many respected his leadership and appreciated his work ethic. Philip loved nature, was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Middle River.
Visitation will take place on Friday, February 20, from 2-4 pm in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 21 at 11 am in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Debbie Fice officiating. The service will be live-streamed on the W.J. Dooley Facebook page. Burial will take place in the spring at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Online condolences may be sent to the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall.
