It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Richard Joseph Doiron, 72, of Sydney Mines, formerly of West Arichat, after a short battle with cancer, on January 13, 2026, with his loving wife Marion “Sugar” (Young) by his side.
Besides his wife Sugar, Richard is also survived by his children Christopher (Krista), Lori (Jamie); step-children Tira (Shannon), Adam; his half-sisters Carmen, Dianne, Georgina; his cherished grandchildren Hudson, Bronwyn, and numerous extended family members.
Richard was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Bertha Doiron, his first wife Jean, his half-sister Aldona and his cherished granddaughter Skylar.
Richard dedicated many years to serving his community within Richmond County before pursuing his dream career as a long-haul truck driver with Seaboard and Premium Trucking until his retirement. Music was Richard's lifelong passion, whether performing with local bands in his younger years, or hosting spirited jam sessions at his senior's residence. His musical entertainment brought joy to all who knew him. A dedicated family man and skilled handyman, Richard was always ready to lend a helping hand to family, neighbors and friends. He thoroughly enjoyed the Blue Jays games with Sugar, and music and card games with family and friends. Richard will be missed immensely by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A funeral service for Richard will be held at 2 pm, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney, with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Online condolences can be left for the family on the tribute wall of the obituary.
