It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear son, brother, nephew and friend, Richard Hawkins, age 37, on Monday, May 18, 2020, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a long battle with diabetes.

Born in North Sydney and raised in Frenchvale, he is the son of Richard and Marilyn (Cobb) Hawkins.

Richard was a graduate of Riverview High School in Coxheath. He was a kind hearted individual who enjoyed connecting with all of his friends through social media and the occasional trip to the casino in Sydney. Richard spent most of the last two years in hospitals where he made many friends whom he still kept in contact with.

Richard is survived by his parents Richard and Marilyn Hawkins, North Sydney; by his two brothers, Ryan Hawkins, Frenchvale and Randy Hawkins of North Sydney. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and many cousins.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Joan Hawkins and maternal grandparents, Reg and Bertha Cobb.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Renal Dialysis unit, Dr. Ritter, Dr. Thana and Dr. Paul Hickey for all their help.

Due to restrictions surrounding Covid-19, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be announced at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
