Richard Garfield Robinson

It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Richard (Tood) Robinson, Age 88, on Monday, April 27, 2026.

Born in North Sydney June 12, 1937, Richard was the son of the late Frank and Alice (Dearing) Robinson. 

Richard is survived by sister-in-law Elaine Robinson, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by his longtime companion Rita Young, brothers Tim Robinson (Margie) and Tom Robinson, as well as several half-siblings. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. 

For a period of time, he was active in the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 19, North Sydney, and a member of the North Sydney Seniors and Pensioners Club. He loved to dance. 

Richard had a friendly disposition and greeted most with a smile and a tale to tell. He looked so forward to his visits from Northside Homemakers and members of the VON.

He was well known throughout his community, and best known for his many years of dedication and service with the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle campaign.

Richard was well loved by family and friends, and will be missed by those who knew him best.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  There will be no visitation. A private interment will take place at a later date. Online condolences can be left for the family on the tribute wall of the obituary at www.wjdooley.com.
