It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved brother and uncle Richard Gerard “Rick” Tobin, age 63, on Sunday, January 26, 2020 in Sydney.

Born in North Sydney on February 1, 1956, he was the son of the late Gerard and Mildred “Millie” (Young) Tobin.  Rick was a graduate of St. Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and was employed as a banker for many years with various banks throughout the Maritimes until his retirement and in more recent years as a security guard.  Music was a big part of Rick’s life and he was an avid collector of records, cds, 8 tracks and cassettes.  He enjoyed going to the Y.M.C.A. in Sydney and will be greatly missed by his canine companion Mitsy.

Rick is survived by his sister Cindy Tobin (Ron Delaney), Sydney, his brother Roger (Theresa Devoe), Alder Point, his three nieces Colette O’Quinn, Toronto, Bridy O’Quinn, Sydney, Jolene Devoe, Fort McMurray, one grand-nephew Nicholas, Toronto, his aunts Bernadette Allen, Ontario, Jeanette Boutilier, North Sydney, Vera Strickland, Alderwood Guest Home, Baddeck and a number of cousins and good friends.

Rick left this world much too early and will be deeply missed by everyone who loved him.  He was the one family member we could always rely on to make us laugh and those are the times we need to hang on to now, to get through this time of sadness.

Besides his parents, Rick was predeceased by his sister Michelle Tobin.

There will be no visitation by request.  A funeral service for Rick will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney with Rev. Bill Burke officiating.
