It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father grandfather, brother and friend, Robert Samuel Bartlett age 84, on Saturday January 22, 2022 at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney.

Born in Leitches Creek, August 4, 1937, Robert was the son of the late Robert and Sara (Johnson) Bartlett. An electrician by trade, Robert worked at the Sydney Steel Plant as a armature rewinder, he also operated Bartlett’s IREMS in Leitches Creek and for a number of years Bartlett’s skating rink. Robert enjoyed gardening, driving his four-wheeler, skating, walking at the walking track in North Sydney where every year he would decorate a Christmas Tree for everyone to enjoy.

Surviving is his wife Irene (MacLean) Bartlett, son Bruce Bartlett, Calgary, daughters Anita Bartlett (Gerry Sheane), Cochrane, AB, and Heather (Robert) Conway, Georges River, three grandchildren Robert Seth, Kaitlynn and Luke, brother Fred (Connie) Bartlett, Blues Mills, NS.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son Stewart, a sister Ruth, two brothers Lewis and Donald.

Many thanks are extended to the doctors and nurses in the palliative care unit as well as 4 West of the Northside General Hospital. 

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Northside Baptist Church, Sydney Mines with Pastor Jason Homan officiating. Covid-19 restrictions will be in place at the church with limited seating available, proof of vaccination, photo ID, wearing of masks and social distancing required. Burial will follow at Calvin United Church Cemetery, Upper Leitches Creek. Memorial donations may be made to the Northside Baptist Church, the Cancer Centre at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or a charity of choice.
