Robert "Bob" Dolomont

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Hector Dolomont - devoted husband, father, brother and friend, on Friday, September 30 at the age of 74 in the Cape Breton Hospice with his wife Monika by his side.

Born in North Sydney, Robert was the son of the late Thomas J. and Kathleen (Murray) Dolomont. Robert spent his career working for the Bank of Canada, often relocating to many different parts of the country, finishing up his career as the Regional Director for the Atlantic Provinces. Robert also spent much of his free time volunteering tirelessly for the North Sydney Food Bank where he was well known by those whom he had helped over the years.

Robert is survived by his wife, Monika (Jonuschies); his son Jason (Natalie) , Toronto; his siblings – Judy (George) Day, Balls Creek, Michael (Valeria) Dolmont, New Harris, Thomas (Carol), Dartmouth, Marjorie Langford, Port Hawkesbury, Jean Hatcher, Port Hawkesbury, Kathleen Colpitts, Dartmouth, and Jim (Carolyn), Sydney Mines. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Eileen Dolomont and Heidi Jonuschies as well as many nieces and nephews.

Robert was predeceased by his son, Erik Dolomont; his brother Donald; his brothers-in-law – Clayton Hatcher, John Langford, and Ronald Colpitts.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at the Cape Breton Hospice for their compassionate and dedicated service.

There will be a visitation for Robert on Wednesday, October 5, between 10 and 11a.m. followed immediately by a funeral service at 11a.m. at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel at 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating. Burial will directly follow the funeral service at Lakeside Cemetery in North Sydney.
