Robert A. Jessome

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Alphonse Jessome, age 67, on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at the Northside General Hospital with his loving wife and daughter by his side after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Scotch Lake, NS on September 15, 1952, he was the son of the late Joseph Ambrose and Margaret Irene (MacKinnon) Jessome of Scotch Lake. Robert was a devoted husband, dad, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. In earlier years, Robert worked at Canadian Tire in Ontario, and later in Sydney for many years. Robert enjoyed watching hockey with his best friend Alvin Nugent, especially when his beloved Maple Leafs were playing against the Montreal Canadiens. He also enjoyed taking Benji, his four-legged furry friend for walks.
Robert will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Darlene (Wall) Jessome and his daughter Susan, who was the light of his life and the center of his world. Robert is survived by his eight brothers Michael (Brenda), Lindsay, ON, Lamey (Kim), Tennessee, Gerard, Sydney Mines, Clayton, Scotch Lake, Brian (Michelle), Scotch Lake, Kevin (Charlotte), Hamilton, ON, Gary (Mary), Sydney Mines, Vernon, Edmonton, AB; his seven sisters Marie (Kevin) Lemoine, Barrie, ON, Frances (Farrell) MacInnis, London, ON, Rose (John) Ryan, Comox, BC, Cheryl (Wilfred) Marsh, North Sydney, Loretta (Al) McPherson, Georges River, Arlene (Leonard) Leblanc, Bras d’Or and Valerie, Scarborough, ON; also surviving is his brother-in-law Laird “Brother” Jenkins, sisters-in-law Betty Wall, North Sydney, Elsie Wall, Sydney Mines, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Robert was predeceased by sister Lillian, brother Paul, five infant siblings, brother-in-law Junior Wall, mother and father-in-law Thomas and Irene Wall.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Peter Poulos for his kindness and professionalism, to the Palliative Care Team, the VON, Dr. Rajbir Pahil and the staff of the Cape Breton Cancer Centre and the nursing staff of 4 West at the Northside General Hospital.
Cremation has taken place by request with no visitation or service. Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
