Rudyard "Rudy" Eugene O'Quinn

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Rudyard Eugene “Rudy” O’Quinn, aged 83, on October 13, 2024 at Hospice Cape Breton in Sydney. Born in North Sydney on May 26, 1941, Rudy was the son of the late Augustine and Elizabeth Mae (Tobin) O’Quinn.

Rudy worked for many years as a railway conductor in British Columbia before retiring back home in rural Cape Breton. In his free time, he loved hunting and fishing, and enjoyed nothing more than a good meal with friends and family.

Rudy is survived by his daughter, Darlene O’Quinn (Brian Martin); siblings – Joan Curtis, Terry (Sharon), John (Gladys), Bobby (Linda), and Emily O’Quinn (Bud Jardine).

Along with his parents, Rudy was predeceased by his son, Kirk; his siblings, Jenny and Raymond, as well as brother-in-law, Bernie Curtis.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home and there will be no service held at this time. Online condolences can be left for the family by writing on the tribute wall of the obituary page.
