Florence
It is with saddened hearts, we the family wish to announce the passing of our beloved Sandy Nicholas on May 5, 2020, with his wife Valerie and his family by his side after a five year courageous battle with cancer.
He was fondly known to everyone as their “Superman.”
Sandy is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 22 years, Valerie (Jessome) Nicholas, daughter Samantha and granddaughter Maeve.
He also leaves behind his parents, Tommy and Joan (Penny) Nicholas, brother Tommy (Sharon) Nicholas, sister Jennifer (Joey) Strickland, father-in-law Cameron Jessome, brother-in-law Greg Jessome, sister-in-law Alaina Jessome, nephew Cole, nieces Nicole, Courtney, Kennedy, Aleah, many aunts, his uncles who he dearly thought of as his brothers and his many cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Bill and Annabelle Penny, paternal grandparents Charlie and Florence “Toots” Nicholas and mother-in-law Brenda Jessome.
Sandy loved spending time with his wife Valerie going camping and out to supper with friends on Saturday night. He enjoyed riding his ATV with his buddies or hitting the road on his motorcycle, watching NASCAR or just sitting by the fire with Valerie.
His home was always open to the neighborhood kids, who he adored; and was always up for having a BBQ with friends and social gatherings.
Sandy was employed with Marine Atlantic for almost 20 years where he made many life-long friendships.
Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid-19 restrictions a funeral mass and celebration of his life are planned for a later date under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
