It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of our beloved wife, mother and nanny, Sharon Jellow, at the age of 84 on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the Northside General Hospital. Sharon was the daughter of the late, Allie and Rita (Smith) Cox.
Sharon leaves her devoted and loving husband of (almost) 64 years Lawrence Jellow, and her four children Tim (Kathy), Regina, Cheryl (Allan), Breton Cove, Benjy (Debbie), Dartmouth, Lorna (Paul), Calgary; grandchildren Sean, Erin, Max, Nicholas, Luke, and Ian; brother Bob (Ann); brother-in-law Joe; sisters-in-law Mary and Cecilia (Mark). Sharon also leaves behind her best friends, Muriel Burns and Jayne McNeil. Besides her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her sister Myrna; brothers-in-law Ralph, Bobby, Walter, and sister-in-law Nora.
Mom dedicated her life to her husband and children. Re-entering the workforce, she could be found in downtown North Sydney, where she worked at the Northside Tribune, and Family Footwear, a role that perfectly aligned with her unwavering passion for all things related to "shoes," a lifelong love affair. Her exceptional talent in knitting and crocheting shone through in the countless beautiful creations she crafted, including baby sets, sweaters, and blankets, each made with boundless love and generously shared with her cherished circle of family and friends. Her enduring sense of humor and quick-witted one-liners, which she continued to share with those who loved her until the day we sadly said our goodbyes, will forever be etched in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the nurses on the 5th floor at the Northside General Hospital for the amazing care of Mom. As well our special neighbours who have been there through out the years especially Frances MacDougall, and Ann MacNeil, our words can never express our gratitude.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home at 107 Pleasant St. in North Sydney. A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice. Online condolences can be left for the family by writing on the tribute wall of the obituary page at www.wjdooley.com.
