It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Sharon Mae (Hardy) Walsh, age 75, on Monday, April 28th, at Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in North Sydney on March 6, 1950, Sharon was the 5th child of the late Wilson and Olive (Bond) Hardy. She was married to John Walsh for 57 years and they resided in North Sydney until her passing.
Sharon was employed at Nickerson Fish Plant for several years until leaving the work force, in order to stay at home and raise her young children. Sharon enjoyed listening to country music, camping in her trailer (when healthier), calling and spending time with family and friends. She loved Christmas and all the festivities, decorating and preparations. She even watched Christmas movies all year round. Sharon always enjoyed a good laugh.
She will be greatly missed by her loving husband John; daughters Darlene (Doug) Rose of Frenchvale, NS, Christene Walsh of Campbell River, BC; son - Johnny (Terri) Walsh of North Sydney, NS; sisters - Joyce Simms of Georges River, NS, Gladys (Maurice/Morris) Gracie of Edmonton, AB; brothers - Frank Bond of Sydney Mines, NS, Sid (Ruth) Hardy of North Sydney; grandchildren - Kayla (Thomas James) Rose of Kelowna, BC, Tyler Rose, Gracie Walsh, Easten Walsh of North Sydney and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her father-in-law Jack Walsh; mother-in-law Sadie Walsh; brothers Wilson (Lynn LaRocque) Hardy, Claude Hardy, Ronald “Bud” (Florence) Hardy; sisters-in-law Joan Hardy, Catherine “Tootsie” Bond; brother-in-law Emmanuel “Mannie” Simms and brother-in-law Richard Tudor.
Visitation for Sharon will be held from 1 – 3 pm, Friday, May 2, 2025, at W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will follow to celebrate Sharon’s life in the Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Debbie Fice officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Online condolences can be left for the family on the tribute wall of the obituary.
