Shelbi Dupont Obituary

It is with tremendous sorrow, disbelief and heavy broken hearts that we the family, announce the sudden passing of our beautiful daughter, loving sister, precious granddaughter, sweet niece, adored cousin, faithful girlfriend, loyal friend and daddy’s little princess, Shelbi Lynn Dupont on Thursday, September 26, 2024 in Edmonton, Alberta, two weeks after her 33rd birthday.

Born in North Sydney on September 12, 1991, Shelbi was the daughter of Judy (Greene) Dupont and the late Paul Gerard Dupont.  Shelbi graduated from Memorial High School in 2009 and travelled to Ft. McMurray not long after.  After working different jobs, she pursued her dreams working as an administrative assistant. Shelbi’s kind personality and compassion allowed her to meet some wonderful people.  She met the love of her life while living in Edmonton. Mike meant the world to her. They both found work in British Columbia and spent every spare moment together. Mike made her dreams come true and her heart happy.

Shelbi attended D&R Dance, North Sydney in her younger years and loved every minute.  She danced at age 2 and graduated at age 18.  Shelbi loved her family, cherished her friends, was bubbly, outgoing, silly at times, loved to watch Friends reruns and eat homemade popcorn with her mama.  She was simply like no other. Shelbi loved her brother immensely and truly looked up to him. And she was still grieving the loss of her dad, with whom she shared a very special bond.

Shelbi is survived by her mom Judy, her brother Nolan (Allie, her special friend), her loving partner Mike Hittinger, her grandparents Ronald and Lorraine Greene and Eileen Dupont. Shelbi is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins who are all in total shock and broken hearts.

It’s cliché, but Shelbi was truly beautiful inside and out.  You could feel her energy when she was near.  She leaves a huge emptiness in the hearts of all of us who loved her and many who were her friends.

Shelbi was predeceased by her dad, Paul Dupont, her first love and lifelong hero.  Through her eyes her dad was everything powerful and safe.  She always said “I’ll hold his hand for a while, his heart forever.”  Paul always called her ‘his little princess” and she always called him “Daddyo.”  She was also predeceased by her grandfather Pascal Dupont.

Visitation for Shelbi will be held 3-5 pm Friday, October 11th, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Since Shelbi was a type one diabetic from a very early age, family are requesting that memorial donations be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association or to the SPCA. Online condolences may be sent to the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary at www.wjdooley.com.

“For wherever in this world you may roam, in my heart you’ll always be home.  I have our memories in my heart, we’re together though we’re apart.” She’s my daughter, my very best friend forever and ever.  Please protect my little angel, my baby girl.
