It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Sidney Jessome at the age of 80 on June 8, 2024, at the Northside Community Guest home, with his loving wife Kitty at his side. Born in Mill Creek on February 4, 1944, Sid was the son of the late John and Margaret Jessome.
Sid was a carpenter by trade and worked very hard at his craft to provide for his family. He was a dedicated family man, a loving husband and father. He loved gardening, growing all kinds of different vegetables and fruit for his family and others to enjoy. He used to harvest wild mushrooms and gift them to friends and neighbours. He was also a long-time volunteer at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Sid is survived by his wife, Catherine “Kitty” (Stamper); his sister, Sheila Darai of Truro, along with many nieces, nephews, and Stamper in-laws.
Besides his parents, Sid was predeceased by his two sons, Robert and Terry Jessome, along with siblings, Priscilla and Ronnie Jessome.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Northside Community Guest Home, especially Joseph Hall, for all of the excellent care they’ve provided.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at St. Joseph Church in North Sydney, with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in Little Bras d’Or. Online condolences can be left for the family by writing on the tribute wall of the obituary page at www.wjdooley.com.
