With a great sense of loss, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Susan Caroline Holic, age 73, on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.  Mom married the love of her life Daniel “Gerard” in October 1967, who preceded her death in 2015.

Born in North Sydney on July 2, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Elizabeth (Musseau) Bond. Mom lived a full, fun life and loved to spend her summers with her family and friends at her campground “Our Place”, where she shared laughter, jokes and drinks with her longtime campground family.  Her winters were spent playing darts with her funny and witty rock-a-bell gang.  She always looked forward to her ramoli nights with the girls (it’s not a club), where they would share lots of jokes, food and good times.

Mom is survived by her “favorite” son Gerard (Cindy) and her “favorite” daughter Laurie (Gordie) Hancock.  She was the adored Nan of Gerard Jr. (Michelle), Jenna (Scott MacNeil), Morgan (J.D. Simec) and Lucas; also a loving great-granny to Vaida, Marlo, Khloe and Aubree.  She is also survived by her brothers Don (Ann), Allan (Kathy), sisters-in-law- Rodina Bond, Barb MacIntyre, Heather Cordero; her in-laws Ann Marie (Mel), Michael (Donna), Cecilia (Kenny) and Rita; also her companion Carl MacKeigan and his awesome family.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and extended families, whom she adored.

Besides her parents and her husband Gerard, mom was predeceased by her daughter Darlene in infancy, her brothers Russell and Doug, sister-in-law Rita Bond, mother and father-in-law Johnny and Ann Holic, brother-in-law Jackie.

Mom had a lot of great, special friends and family, who shared a piece of her heart and will be greatly missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.  She was a kind hearted, easy going, fun loving, sweetest lady to everyone she met.

We will cherish all of our special memories. Mom you will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of 3B at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and the An Cala Palliative Care Unit.

There will be no visitation.  A graveside service will be held for Susan at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney with Rev. Jackie Warren officiating and under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
