Sylvia "Susie" Ruth (Vatcher) Bartlett

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sylvia “Susie” (Vatcher) Bartlett, peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 21st, 2024, at the age of 79. Born and raised in North Sydney, Susie was the daughter of the late Milton and Hilda (Andrews) Vatcher. 

Susie was the best mother, grandmother, sister, and neighbour ever, filling these roles with not only her own family but also her family’s friends. She was famous for her homemade baked bread, delicious cooking, and generosity towards others, especially her children, grandchildren, and dogs whom she loved dearly. 

Susie leaves behind her husband, John; children Andrew, Rita (Calvin), and beloved grandchildren Meaghan (Spencer), Aaron, and Jenna, who were her shining stars, along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special sister Nancy and special niece Tracy. She was predeceased by her three sisters - Gwen, Shirley, and Moira, one brother, James, in infancy, and great-niece Victoria.

A visitation for Sylvia will be held from 1-2:30 pm, Friday, May 24, 2024, at W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  A funeral service will immediately follow at St. John The Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Debbie Fice officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice.  Online condolences can be left for the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary at www.wjdooley.com.
